Fragile Storm – A Powerful Short Film About Dementia

Fragile Storm – A Powerful Short Film About Dementia

Dawn Field and her team has held strong with their determination and dedication to get this film produced.  Although some people may feel the film is edgy in it’s depiction of dementia, many living and dealing with the disease will say this film exposes the impact dementia can have on those diagnosed as well as those caring for them. It also highlights the depth of love on both sides of the disease.

For those of  you that may disagree and even strongly to push back on this film, I urge you to state your thoughts in a respectful fashion just as I would those that love the film.

The film does dramatize what some will call a negative focus of dementia, but it also helps people realize the fear, discomfort and struggles families may go through in heart and mind, even if not in an actual physically state.  Getting people to “feel” the needs, frustrations, fears and love; can help people see the power of unconditional love and commitment that so many hold near and dear when caring for a loved one.

Even when situations appear obvious to outsiders that help is required to give quality care; the lines can become very blurred when one makes a promise to a loved one.

Alzheimer’s Speaks has always felt strongly that all formats and perceptions of the disease have value and can be leveraged in a positive way to encourage people to have a honest, open and healthy discussion to assist in improving our dementia care.
