Today we discussed the movie “Still Alice” and our disappointment in the movie industry not having this movie in the theaters. We encourage everyone to call their local theaters to request the film be shown at their theaters. Michael shared a bit about the G7 meetings and what Japan is doing with the clock test for dementia. Harry talked about Untied Against Dementia. Both of our experts gave great tips on how to help someone with dementia when out in the community.

Dementia Chats Recording from Tuesday Dec 9th, 2014

Copy of DC_HQ_062714_bannerpurpleDementia Chats Recording from

Tuesday Dec 9th, 2014

Today we had a great discussion on the term “sundowning” and also had talked about some great tips for the holidays.  We also discussed the movie “Still Alice,” some gifts wrapped in this disease.  I am not sure why, but for some reason Harry Urban did not show up on the recording, although we all heard and saw him while it was live. I apologize for this technology error.  Adobe Connect is working on getting this fixed.

Our Experts Living With Dementia Are:harry_urbanHarry Urban, Founder of “Forget Me Not,” a closed support group on Facebook for those with dementia, their care partners, professionals and advocates.

mICHAEL_ELLENBOGEN_SPEAKINGMichael Ellenbogen, is 54 years old. His career was in Information Technology, where he was a high level manager. Michael was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease at the age of 49. He is no longer able to work. Michael now spend my time trying to increase awareness of this disease, and work to increase funding for research. He just finished writing his book outlining my experience with Alzheimer’s.

Robert Bowles Pharma PicRoberts Bowles, sold his pharmacy in December 2010, Robert lost his purpose in life. Eighteen months later, he was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia. One year after his diagnosis, I found my purpose in life again….that of dementia awareness and transparently journalizing and sharing my experience, strength and hope seeking to help both persons with dementia and their care partners.

Robert’s mother and father both had dementia
