Private Caregiving Principles to Feel Competent and Confident
As many of you know, I cared for my mother who lived with dementia for 30 years. What you may not know, is I also cared for my father with brain cancer for 4 ½ years too. Their illness and my decision to care for them was life changing and one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever done, but in saying this, the journey also highlighted many things I knew nothing about. Like how to you care for someone who is critically ill or who has a terminal illness. Oh, how I wished there would have been some education for me to tap into ahead of stepping in to the role of a care partner.
That’s why I am excited to share that I will be participating in “The Complete Private Caregiving Event” on November 16, 2021, featuring expert speakers in the field of elder caregiving and the self-care of a caregiver. This event is designed to discuss key topics around the many facets of caregiving and the caregiver to help minimize the unknown, take care of yourself as a caregiver, and move with strength and ease while serving our elders.
So, if this is your core calling, if you’re in transition, or if you want to become a private caregiver versus in a public setting, then this event will help you bridge from thinking about it to doing it. This is an opportunity to serve, have time off for your personal life, and be compensated wonderfully. If you are a caregiver caring for a loved one, we welcome you, too!

After receiving multiple requests to formally continue to highlight the artwork of those living with dementia, The Arts & Dementia Educational Panel will formally launch this November. All levels of artists and all types of art are welcome. Our goal is to elevate panelists work and ability to create beauty in many forms. They will share examples of various types of art they participate in, how, and why they started, what they have learned, and what they personally get out of making art. Panelists, do not have to attend all sessions.
