Today, J. Arthur’s Memory Cafe had the Honor of Several Visitors.

We had two new couple join our group.  Judy George of Mindful Movement taught us  some t’ai chi chih which is the meditative art of movement and healing,  John Bird and John Harrison of The Living Tree a new video legacy company with an amazing new tool to capture joy, history and the relationships we all cherish in life.  Gail Rosenblum, a reporter with the Star Tribune also came out and spent over two hours with us.

Please take the time to read the article Gail wrote as you will see the insights and the beauty these memory Cafes have to offer those dealing with Memory loss.  Click Here To Read The Article

Thanks Gail for helping us raise awareness and give hope to those in need!

J. Arthur’s Memory Cafe

Dedicates a Song to

the UK Memory Cafes

In celebration of the holiday season, we at J. Arthur’s Memory Café in Roseville, Minnesota felt it was only right to show our appreciation to the UK Memory Cafés for so graciously sharing their Memory Café Concept with us.

We are filled with Gratitude!

Although many of our members were not able to join us due to busy holiday schedule, others gladly came out to show their support in our silly but very sincere video to the UK.

Below are the lyrics to:

We encourage you to make you own version supporting the Memory Cafes and send it to us. Let’s see how many versions we can collect while raising awareness at the same time!

J. Arthur’s Memory Cafe announces Opening in U.S. on Alzheimer’s Speaks Radio Today

Well I have to admit, doing the radio show is HUMBLING and testing my patience to say the least, but hey that’s life. There is a lesson at every corner and it is not going to stop just because I’m doing something more public than usual.  LOL

So in full disclosure the show didn’t smooth in the beginning due to technical difficulties. If you want a laugh consider listening to the beginning.  It’s our blooper spot!  If you don’t want to listen to the mad scramble behind the scenes just move arrow to about the 7 minute mark and the show rolls on from there. We are trying to edit the program but in the mean time here is the show.  The show has now been edited so you can listen from the beginning just keep in mind our normal introduction is not intact.  Just like real life you can plan all you want, but sometimes there are a few detours on route… mine are usually technical road bumps…LOL

I think  you will get good information even with the our goofy beginning.

If you are interested in learning more about how to open a Memory Cafe please email me or make a comment on the blog.

Please Join me in the Minnesota Memory Project

It’s time to STEP UP and BE PROACTIVE!

So you might be asking what the Minnesota Memory project is all about? Well let me give you some basic information and then you can go to their website and check it out for yourself or pick up the phone and give them a call. They would love to talk with you personally. I am a participant in the study and will writing about my experience in future blogs. My goal in doing this is to remove the fear of participating in these studies as they are critical in collecting data in order to present making changes for the future.

The Minnesota Memory Project gathers health history and lifestyle information that may be associated with aging and caregiving. By joining the Minnesota Memory Project you will be contributing vital information that will help advance research efforts related to memory health. Your participation could help us improve diagnosis of memory loss, identify lifestyle changes that prevent memory loss and better understand the effects of caregiving on health and memory. Residents of states other than Minnesota are welcomed to participate.

Who can participate?

1. Adults who are 55 years and older

2. Adults with diagnosed memory loss who are 40 years and older

3. Adults providing care for someone with memory loss

Here is information to contact the Minnesota Memory Project

The Alzheimer’s Research Center is collecting the data for the Minnesota Research Project.
