A BIG THANK YOU to Dr. Lakelyn Hogan Eichenberger with Home Instead who invited me on her live video chat to discuss early diagnosis and why it’s so important. So many people worry about changes in cognition from individuals who are sensing a change in their own lives, to family and friends. This chat will give you some ideas of common changes people question, what could be causing the changes, who to go see if you are concerned, to how to approach the conversation with a loved one, and even how to respond to someone who is telling you they are worried about cognitive changes.

Please Share & Pass This Great Conversation Onto Others

When Dementia Takes a Back Seat To Other Health Issues Plus Examples of Misperceptions, Hallucinations, Delusions and Misunderstandings On Dementia Chats™ Today our experts living with dementia give us great examples of situations where dementia can be ignored, or not acknowledged when other health issues pop up. They also give us great examples of the differences between hallucinations, delusions, misunderstandings and misperceptions.

Our Host, Lori La Bey talks with Lisa Ronke from Watertown, South Dakota. She worked in Sales, Marketing, Event Planning and most recently retired as a Project Manager/Paralegal from a local law firm. Needless to say she was a good organizer, but when her Husband Ed was diagnosed with Early onset ALZ at age 51 she found dementia was not something you could organize once and put into a file or a drawer.  Dementia has a mind of it’s own. Ed’s lived 6 ½ years and passed away at the age 57, on Nov. 28, 2021.  Today, Lisa will share insight about the disease and how the life-altering, dream-shattering diagnosis affected their lives.

BrainGuide Helps Finds Memory Issues Before a Diagnosis

Tuesday – Aug. 3rd 2021 – 2pm EDT, 1pm CDT, 12pm MDT, 11am PDT & 7pm London BST, 8pm South Africa SAST, and on the 23rd at 4am in Australia AEST

Listen to the Interview Below

Lori La Bey hosts of Alzheimer’s Speaks Radio talks with Brooks Kenny the Executive Director of the Women’s Network at UsAgainstAlzheimer’s.  She is also the General Manager for BrainGuide.  This program is UsAgainstAlzheimer’s newest initiative focusing on bringing state-of-the-art technology to consumers across the country that are worried about their or a loved one’s brain health.

BrainGuide by UsAgainstAlzheimer’s is a first-of-its-kind platform that empowers people with knowledge and
resources to take the best next steps in managing their own or a loved one’s brain health.

BrainGuide can help whether you’re interested in protecting your brain health, you’ve been diagnosed with mild
cognitive impairment (MCI) or Alzheimer’s, or you’re concerned about a family member.

BrainGuide begins with an automated, confidential self-administered memory questionnaire, developed with input
from memory experts, that can be taken on behalf of yourself or someone you care about. Once you complete the
questionnaire, BrainGuide offers tailored education and resources to help you find the best next steps in your or a
loved one’s brain health journey. BrainGuide does not provide a diagnosis.

UsAgainstAlzheimer’s worked in close collaboration with medical, technology, and industry experts to innovate and
carefully create BrainGuide. BrainGuide was developed with in-kind and financial support from Biogen. The platform
runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS), using state-of-the-art technologies to power the memory questionnaire
capability and make it available to anyone with a telephone or internet access. BrainGuide is part of the long-term
commitment from UsAgainstAlzheimer’s to ensuring that no one is lost to Alzheimer’s disease.

Alzheimer’s Speaks is pleased to share this new platform and its important work. We encourage you to take the
first step in acting on your brain health today by visiting MyBrainGuide.org or calling 855-BRAIN-411.

Brooks Kenny has spent her career applying marketing and business know-how to social causes and has become a national speaker on women’s brain health, Alzheimer’s disease and caregiving.

“Stress, Dementia & Gratitude.”

Dementia Chats is a series of video conversations where we talk with the true experts on dementia, those living with a diagnosis. Lori La Bey, founder of Alzheimer’s Speaks facilitates a conversation and is amazed by every conversation what she learns about life with dementia. She encourages everyone not only to watch these videos, but to include those living with dementia in conversations and to listen closely to their insights. They know dementia better than anyone.
