Cheers to an Amazing 4th of July

Celebrate Our Independence Safely and with Pride!

The 4th of July is a great day to not only celebrate our nations independence, but to explore what independence means to us. Often I think we take our independence for granted. We can look at this day from many angles. Our political and military state, our right to vote, or our freedom of speech and on and on.

What Does Independence

Mean To You?

But today, I urge you to consider the importance of independence for those living with a chronic illness or disability, like a form of dementia.

If your memory or executive functions would start to slip away, what would independence mean to you? What would bring you comfort, dignity, safety and joy in your life? How would you want to be treated? What type of community would you see supporting you and why?

Share Your Thoughts with Us Here on Alzheimer’s Speaks

Enjoy the 4th of July Weekend – Be safe and Kind to Yourself & Others.
