In 2010, her Mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and her husband started showing signs of dementia. Since 2012, Jean set out to raise awareness, make a difference helping others understand dementia and what they may face on their journey  She’ll share her experience as a CNA, her personal journey with dementia,  along with tips on struggles and what life is like after caregiving.

Cheers to an Amazing 4th of July

Celebrate Our Independence Safely and with Pride!

The 4th of July is a great day to not only celebrate our nations independence, but to explore what independence means to us. Often I think we take our independence for granted. We can look at this day from many angles. Our political and military state, our right to vote, or our freedom of speech and on and on.

What Does Independence

Mean To You?

But today, I urge you to consider the importance of independence for those living with a chronic illness or disability, like a form of dementia.

If your memory or executive functions would start to slip away, what would independence mean to you? What would bring you comfort, dignity, safety and joy in your life? How would you want to be treated? What type of community would you see supporting you and why?
