Memory Lane TV – Improving Lives & Giving Comfort

Thursday May 19th – 2pm EST, 1pm CST, 12pm MST, 11am PST & 7pm London GMT, 9pm South Africa SAST, and on the May 20th at 6am in Australia AEDT

Watch The Interview Below

Listen to the Radio Show – Click Below

Our Host, Lori La Bey talks with Alban Maino, a Franco-American documentary film producer based in Portland, Maine and the CEO of Memory Lane TV.  Alban was inspired by his personal experience caring for his grandmother.  He explains, “When my grandmother, Rosette, was affected by Alzheimer’s, I searched and searched for a tool, a medicine, something to help manage her symptoms, but found there were no effective options available. I delved into the published research, and slowly discovered decades of investigations into sensory stimulation and memory. Eventually I was able to leverage my media background and construct some sensory stimulation tools based on that research that helped with my Grandmother’s symptoms. This was the genesis of Memory Lane TV.”

A Deeper Dive on Memory Lane TV

Memoro, Inc. is the company behind the recent launch of Memory Lane TV, a digital health tool designed to alleviate many of the common behavioral and psychological symptoms experienced by people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

At the heart of its design is the employment of sensory stimulation, which has been proven an effective approach to help those living with dementia.  We spent more than five years developing this solution, translating more than fifty years of published medical research on dementia, sensory stimulation, and memory activation into an effective and easy to use form factor: A streaming media service providing therapeutically designed content that supports the wellbeing of individuals living with Memory Loss.

This specialized content includes a collection of scientifically designed films, with elements of music, soundscapes, video sequences, and still image montages that combine to induce a variety of responses in the viewers, such as anxiety and stress reduction, re-grounding with the circadian rhythm to combat sundowning, appetite stimulation, increased engagement, memory activation, and other positive benefits.  Moreover, it is unique in that much of it is designed to be used in conjunction with olfactory stimulation – the use of aromas to incorporate the sense of smell – in a harmonized, integrated way.  Adding olfactory stimulation in such an integrated way is like turning the benefits dial to eleven!

Finally, unlike regular television, which can exacerbate the very symptoms that our approach is designed to combat, all of our content is plot-free and non-character dependent; it’s non-editorial.  This aspect can be confusing at first, but it’s important to remember that this is not entertainment, it is a therapeutic tool designed to achieve symptomatic relief.

Your Attention Is Needed – All Types Of Care Homes Are Struggling

KSTP -Kirsten Swanson

The Public Isn’t Hearing About The Shortages To The Level Needed To In Order To Prioritize Staff Shortages Being Addressed!

The above video highlights what is happening in the group home industry, but don’t think for one minute it stops there! Most communities from independent living, assisted living, memory care, transitional care and even our hospitals; if honest will state they are struggling to provide quality care due to lack of people being willing to work in the industry. Many communities say they are filled to capacity, but if you push you will find that capacity is actually based on the number of staff available to cover shifts, not the number of beds or rooms they have to fill. This is a HUGE change in how occupancy is viewed and communicated to the public.

I my personal opinion, it is a mistake to set this false perception up as we can’t get support to fix this huge problem that isn’t going away on it’s own without honest information. I understand companies don’t want to look like they are struggling to the public, but the public can be their biggest advocate if they are told what the true needs are. Families will rally if guided as to how they can help.

As a family member, who had a loved one in a community I would have wanted to know. I would also have extreme respect for a company who is openly saying they are protecting my loved one by making sure they are staffed; even if that means they are not able to fill all their beds.

Private, nonprofit, government, staff, families, and the general public need to discuss this situation openly and honestly; if the problem is going to be resolved. Collaborations at deeper levels need to happen. No longer can we fix this in our separate silos. I urge everyone at every level to talk openly about the issues at hand and work together in the light vs hide in the darkness.

Ms. Veronika Zyss began writing after her husband’s death. At first, it was to make sense of her feelings. The book turned out to be very cathartic for her. Expressing her feelings made it easier to come to terms with them. During the process Veronika thought her sharing her story might help others. Since then, her book has been endorsed, published globally, and she has appeared on Alzheimer’s podcast and as a guest author. Listen in to this amazing story!
