Aging Matters: Living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. This fabulous film explores the explores the impact these diseases are having on individuals, families and communities. The documentary weaves together the personal stories of those who are living with dementia, their care partners and commentary from leading experts in dementia. The program reveals the myths and stigmas that have hindered better living and better caring. It examines the heavy burden of the costs associated with the disease, whether financial, physical or psychological.
It is estimated that more than 5 million people in the U.S. live with age-related dementias. As our population ages, that number will only continue to grow. In Aging Matters: Living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia,NPT explores the impact on individuals, families and communities through personal stories of people who are living with dementia, comments from their care partners and insight from leading experts in dementia.
Aging Matters: Living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia was produced by Mary Makley and is her third documentary in the series. Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Kathy Mattea (shown in the above clip) hosts the series.
