“When Caring Takes Courage” Form Partnership to
Benefit Alzheimer’s Patients and Caregivers
The Alzheimer’s Care Resource Center (ACRC) and Mara Botonis announce they have partnered together to adapt her bestselling book, “When Caring Takes Courage: A Compassionate and Interactive Guide for Alzheimer’s Caregivers” into a DVD series for both family and professional caregivers. The series will offer simple solutions to common challenges that caregivers can easily reproduce based upon their own unique needs supporting those coping with Alzheimer’s or dementia. The collaborative project will produce DVD’s that will closely follow Mara’s book and provide proven techniques to support caregivers in both “Getting Through the Day” and “Creating the Best Possible Day”.
“We were approached by several companies that wanted to adapt the book into DVD’s. After careful consideration we chose to partner with the Alzheimer’s Care Resource Center, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. We passionately support their mission to provide, education, training and supportive programs and services to caregivers of those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or other neurocognitive disorders, and who will continue to help them throughout their caregiving journey”, said Mara Botonis.
“The Alzheimer’s Care Resource Center is thrilled to bring these DVD’s to caregivers throughout the United States. These DVD’s will provide caregivers with real world solutions to so many challenges they face each and every day”, said Elayne Forgie, President and CEO of ACRC.
“In addition to bringing these DVD’s to caregivers across this country, the Alzheimer’s Care Resource Center has been granted the exclusive right to bring Biography Based Care and When Caring Takes Courage to all caregivers in South Florida via our “Making Moments Matter™” program. This will allow us to train family caregivers, as well as home health agencies and nurse registry caregivers, to use Mara’s techniques to improve the quality of life for those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia”, said Elayne.
After thirty years in healthcare, working throughout the United States in the senior housing industry, Mara Botonis’ life and career trajectory was forever changed when a close family member was stricken with Alzheimer’s. Her everyday work at the national level alongside families coping with the impact of Alzheimer’s and dementia, as well as countless medical and healthcare professionals specializing in these diseases, offered unparalleled opportunities to learn from their collective knowledge. Mara’s extensive background and successful track record, in collaborating with both family caregivers and healthcare professionals in all aspects of at-home and community-based Memory Care nationwide, has provided the ideal foundation with which to share the successes thousands of caregivers experience each day in coping with dementia through her book, and now this highly anticipated DVD series.
Mara’s passion and life’s work has been to learn the best practices which capable caregivers use to find success, joy and hope in the face of this devastating disease, and find a way to share that information with those who deal with dementia on a day-to-day basis. Her company, Biography Based Care®, offers educational tools, resources and training for both professional and family caregivers. Mara continues to be an in-demand speaker for healthcare professionals and a highly requested trainer for family caregivers.
50% of the net proceeds from the sale of the DVD’s go to the benefit of The Alzheimer’s Care Resource Center.
